Does mentalist and magician Andrew Klazinga really have mental powers? He explores the possibilities in his first solo show, which is running as part of the Cape Town Fringe Festival.

Mentalist and magician Andrew Klazinga’s If I Really Did Have Powers… (It Would Look Something Like This) wins the award for the show with the longest title running as part of this year’s Cape Town Fringe Festival. He’s also the third, and final, magician to be participating in 2017. His show runs during the final week of the festival.

Theatre Review: Andrew Klazinga's If I Really Did Have Powers... (It Would Look Something Like This)

I attended on the opening night last night, which was held, as was Greg Gelb’s show, at The Fringe Club at the German Club Cape Town. Unfortunately the show clashed with the Cape Town Magic Club’s weekly Monday night shows for its season 5 run, which were only announced after the Cape Town Fringe Festival’s schedule had been set, so the audience was, unfortunately, small.

This didn’t deter Klazinga, however. When the show began he was a little stiff but once he got going he loosened up and started enjoying what he was doing, which came through in his performance. He had fun – and audiences can sense that; it makes a difference to the atmosphere in the room when the performer is loving what he is doing.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_btn title=”Read the rest of this review” style=”classic” shape=”square” color=”inverse” align=”center” i_icon_fontawesome=”fa fa-external-link” add_icon=”true” link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.brainwavez.org%2Fculture%2Freviews%2F2017%2F20171003001-01.html|title:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.brainwavez.org%2Fculture%2Freviews%2F2017%2F20171003001-01.html|target:%20_blank|”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
